National Solar Panel Recycling Scheme

planned

New South Wales is leading efforts to formulate a national product stewardship scheme for solar panels in Australia. The scheme aims to manage solar panels from start to end of life, preventing them from ending up in landfill and instead directing them towards remanufacture or recycling. NSW is also developing a mandated stewardship program for batteries. Authorities are working on a Regulatory Impact Statement to evaluate options for a national mandatory product stewardship scheme to catalyse a recycling and reuse sector for solar panels and batteries.
