Description

Description

Development is underway on a proposed nationally harmonised system for authorising who is qualified to deliver services across Australia's multiple rail networks. The scheme aims to reduce duplication and inefficiencies by using Transport for New South Wales' Technically Assured Organisation (TAO) scheme as a foundation, partnering with the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) and other rail agencies to develop a consistent national prequalification framework. It will be modelled on the Product Type Approval Framework (PTAF) developed in Victoria, allowing states and territories to agree on core safety and assurance requirements while assessing additional local elements as needed.
