Description

Description

The project involves the construction of the 10MW Natitingou solar PV plant located in the Atakora division in northwest Benin. The sponsors, French independent power producer GreenYellow and Egnon Consulting, signed a concession agreement for the development, financing, construction and operation of the project. Both companies were selected after a competitive bidding process that was carried out by the government of Benin in partnership with the Millennium Challenge Account-Benin II (MCA-Benin II), a US bilateral development fund managed by the Millennium Challenge Corporation. The financing was provided by the International Finance Corporation and Proparco. The electricity produced by the project will be sold to the Société béninoise d’énergie électrique (SBEE) under a 20-year power purchase agreement. Construction is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2023 and financial close was achieved in July 2022. https://fr.greenyellow.com/sites/fr_greenyellow/files/inline-files/CP_Benin_GY_Vdef_EN.pdf https://www.afrik21.africa/en/benin-greenyellow-and-egnon-win-construction-of-4-solar-parks-in-ppp/ https://www.mayerbrown.com/en/news/2022/07/mayer-brown-conseille-le-gouvernement-du-benin-sur-les-premiers-projets-d-energie-solaire-et-thermique-independants-du-pays https://www.gopa-intec.de/fields-of-activity/photovoltaics-concentrated-solar-power-csp
