Description
Description | Personnel from SPC and NPS will collaborate to¿ ● Work with locally affiliated California Native American groups to schedule and carry out a series of interviews focusing on tribal history, cultural awareness, and current practices and will be utilized to engage the public through interpretive channels. This information will be used to inform Native American consultation for Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, Web content for the SEKI website, and interpretive exhibits and other interpretive projects and interactive engagement. ● Work with affiliated California Native American groups to plan a series of public engagement events that will focus on tribal history, cultural awareness, and current practices and will be engaging to the public. Both SPC and NPS will identify leads for this project who will arrange meetings, plan events, and coordinate logistics and execute projects. ● Work together to identify opportunities to educate SPC and NPS staff in cross-cultural awareness and native cultural competencies in order to be better and more effective in our partnership efforts and in our desire to bring native culture to the public as part of their park experience. ● Carry out other cooperative projects and activities to support California Native American engagement in park management and resource protection and other park and community undertakings |
