Description | The Natrium Reactor project is the first commercial-scale advanced nuclear power plant to receive a construction permit from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission. It features a 345 MW sodium-cooled fast reactor with a patented molten salt-based energy storage system that can boost output to 500 MW. The project is backed by TerraPower and supported by the U.S. Department of Energy's Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program. Construction is planned to start soon with completion expected in 2030. |
