Description | Turkey will build a 97-kilometer subsea natural gas pipeline from the southern Turkish district of Alanya to Northern Cyprus to bolster energy security and potentially link Eastern Mediterranean gas reserves to European markets. The project includes engineering work scheduled for completion by the end of 2026 and is planned to become operational in 2028. The pipeline will feature a reverse-flow system to allow gas to be piped back to Turkey and forwarded to European markets. A memorandum of understanding is expected to be signed in June 2026, followed by a formal intergovernmental agreement. |
