The pre-study aims to investigate the conditions for developing solutions that address current challenges in sustainable use of natural and cultural inheritance as well as in social and health care service sectors. Within the Nordic pre-study, the project will map, investigate and specify the conditions for jointly developing, implementing and measuring the effects of models based on virtual nature experiences that support health. In Finland, prerequisites will be investigated, for example, to create a larger dome-like studio in which the latest 360-degree VR technology is utilized. The studio will be developed under preliminary plans for clients with severe intellectual/physical disabilities at the Eskoo unit in Seinäjoki. Under preliminary plans in Sweden, virtual nature experiences will be offered to patients in palliative care in Umeå, as well as other medical care and home care patients in both countries, via bigger or portable screens or even VR-glasses that enable evolving and flexible testing of virtual nature experiences on different locations, for both clients and staff.
