Description
Description | Core problem The initial situation of Park W is characterized by high pressure on the natural resources of soil, water, flora and fauna. The pressure on use has increased further in recent years due to the high population growth in the neighboring areas. It is also currently being observed that armed insurgents are trying to destabilize the Beninese and Nigerien parts of the WAP complex (Park W, Arly and Pendjari) in addition to the Burkinabe and use them as places of refuge. Module objective The FSOA enables the continued existence and efficient management of the Nigerien part of the cross-border WAP through regular and long-term financing and promotes cooperation between the park management authority responsible for Park W-Niger and the neighboring communities. Key outputs - The financial situation of Park W-Niger has improved. - The conditions for conflict prevention and conflict resolution within Park W-Niger and its neighboring areas have improved. - The infrastructure conditions for efficient protected area management in Park W-Niger have improved. - The staffing conditions for efficient protected area management in the part of the WAP complex located in Niger have improved. Target group The target group is the predominantly poor population in the peripheral areas / neighboring areas of Park W and its adjacent reserves (Tamou and Dosso), who live primarily from agriculture in an area with little infrastructure. Due to the impact of the project on the global good of biodiversity, the preservation of the protected areas is in the global interest. Contribution to the national implementation of Agenda 2030 The FC module contributes to achieving the 15th Sustainable Development Goal: Protect ecosystems and stop biodiversity loss. |
