Nature Rocks Tourist Infrastructure Redesign

MVRDV, in collaboration with HWC Architects, has won the commission to redesign the tourist infrastructure of Jialeshui, Taiwan. The project aims to improve accessibility and visitor facilities while preserving the natural landscape by confining new construction within the site's existing developed footprint. The design mimics the fractured, layered geology of the region, transforming roads, paths, and buildings into rocky fragments emerging from the terrain. The masterplan includes reshaped circulation, public spaces, visitor centers, exhibition spaces, restrooms, lookout points, kiosks, and viewpoints, all designed to withstand the harsh coastal climate and integrate with the natural environment.
