Description | The borough of Naugatuck is developing a public-private partnership with Genesee & Wyoming Railroad Services Inc. to develop a freight rail park at the former Uniroyal site. The project aims to create a rail hub on an 86-acre site along the Naugatuck River, focusing on freight rail cars rather than containers. The rail park will provide direct rail access and support various industrial uses such as warehousing, lumber distribution, bulk propane, recycling, and trans-loading. The borough will control the rail park and oversee its development, including redesigning the site to improve access and adding more lots. The developer, Mark DePecol, will fund engineering, site work, and rail lines for the spurs. |
