Description

Description

Information NMIAL has come up with Navi Mumbai International Airport with a ticket size of 19646 INR Crores. This project in Airports & Aviation Infrastructure sub-sector involves The current status of the project is Work Start - Appointed Date and is being developed through the PPP route. Economic/Social Impact of the Project The Union Cabinet in its meeting held on 31.5.2007 granted in-principle approval for setting up of the new Greenfield airport at Navi Mumbai to the State Government of Maharashtra. Presently, the Chhatrapati Shivaji International CSI Airport, Mumbai is handling 32 Million Passengers Per Annum [MPPA] against the capacity of 40 MPPA. However, passenger traffic at the CSI Airport is expected to touch 40 MPPA by 2018 and 80 MPPA by 2026. Hence it is essential that the new airport at Navi Mumbai comes up in the next 3 years. The airport is being designed to cater to an ultimate capacity of 60 million passengers per annum. It will accommodate two parallel runways for simultaneous and independent operations with provisions for full length parallel taxiways and conform to ICAO Aerodrome Code 4F to serve large aircrafts like the A380 and B747-8. The Navi Mumbai International Airport [NMIA] is envisaged to be state-of-the-art, with modular facilities for both domestic and international passengers. Mumbai being the financial and commercial center of India, requires aviation facilities of the highest order. Demand for air travel to Mumbai is ever-increasing and the existing CSIA airport is having a single runway is facing operational constraints even with existing traffic and is expected to fully saturate by 2018. To overcome the limited capacity of CSI Airport, a second airport is intended to be developed at Navi Mumbai. Revised cost- INR 19,646 Cr
