Description

Description

The Centre of Excellence aims to outline how the European Union can co-construct a democratic future in line with its key objectives of the green transition and the digital decade. To do so, this CoE studies the interplay between the elements of the often-evoked “Triple P” dilemma of people, profits, and planet in Europe and beyond. While this framework has promised inter-disciplinary collaboration and debate, concrete implementation across academia and policy making remains elusive. Benefitting from the unique structure of the European School of Political and Social Science (ESPOL), this centre brings together researchers from a variety of disciplines, including but not limited to international relations, political science, and economics. It focuses on how these ostensively opposing imperatives interact with each other. Across five work packages coordinated by 19 team members, we build and implement an interdisciplinary approach to research, teach, and talk about the practices, technologies, structures, and agencies to facilitate a sustainability transformation as it relates to people, profits, and planet, respectively. Through this process, we plan to address all concerned stakeholders, including researchers, students, citizens, civil society, and policy makers. To make a lasting impact to a wide audience, the CoE will deliver 1 book, 1 journal special issue, and various scientific articles. It will also organize 18 seminars, 12 public debates, 1 scientific conference, 2 cultural events, and yearly student events.
