NEB Voices for Europe's Future

NEBVOICES is a citizen-driven journey to strengthen democratic engagement across Europe by using the values and methods of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) as a framework for education, dialogue, and participation. The project addresses Priority 1 of the CERV-2025-CITIZENS-CIV call by creating spaces where citizens can understand and influence EU policies. It mobilises municipalities, civil society organisations, educational institutions, and citizens from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, and Portugal through five interconnected events that move from awareness to action. NEB principles—sustainability, inclusion, and beauty—serve as accessible entry points to connect citizens with EU priorities like the Green Deal, the Charter of Fundamental Rights, and democratic resilience. Starting with a Kick-off Conference in Vodice, the project continues through Civic Exchange Events in Gradara, Ormož and Mangualde, where citizens engage in cross-border dialogue and participatory placemaking. Methods such as walking cafés and co-creation workshops empower citizens—especially vulnerable groups—to become agents of change. A Virtual Civic Exchange Platform ensures continuity, while a Networking Journal and participatory videos document the process. Citizens co-develop proposals and recommendations which are later presented to EU policymakers during a Study Visit to Brussels. By involving over 300 citizens, NEBVOICES offers a replicable model of how to root EU values in daily life. Its methods and tools will be shared for use in other communities, ensuring long-term impact beyond the project.
