This medical center houses 265,000 SF of comprehensive patient services including emergency care, obstetrics, inpatient and outpatient surgery, intensive care, cardiac catheterization, pharmacy, radiology, and lab testing. There are a total of 94 private inpatient, labor and delivery, intensive care unit, and observation beds, with capabilities to add additional beds in the future. The new medical office building enhances patient care and convenience by providing additional areas for clinics and offering state-of-the-art diagnostic services to assist physicians in prompt diagnosis and treatment. Because the medical center houses nearly all medical departments necessary to operate a fully-functional hospital, the facility had to incorporate radiology, surgical, ER, and other required medical equipment. Kiewit worked closely with the client to ensure state-of-the-art equipment was purchased in a timely manner without impacting the project’s schedule. Kiewit’s value management and planning efforts resulted in massive savings to the project, just over $3 million.
