Description | The Union Ministry of Heavy Industries plans to manufacture neodymium magnets within India by setting up multiple production plants by 2027. Mining of neodymium oxide from monazite found in black sand is planned along the coastal belts of Kollam and Alappuzha in Kerala and Odisha's coast. The central government has allocated Rs 1,900 crore for the project, with mining rights granted to the Atomic Minerals Department under the Ministry of Atomic Energy. The extracted neodymium oxide will be chemically processed and converted into metal for magnet manufacturing. |
