Description | The Nepal government is seeking to acquire heavy-lift helicopters or aerial cranes from the United States instead of the six rotary-wing helicopters initially offered as a grant. These heavy-lift helicopters are intended to transport construction materials in remote areas of Nepal using external slings and hooks. The US had offered $100 million under its Foreign Military Financing programme to strengthen Nepal's rotary-wing capabilities, but Nepal is negotiating to align the support with its specific needs. |
