Net-Zero Lake House on Eugenia Lake

A 6,578 sq ft net-zero lake house on Eugenia Lake, Ontario, designed for a family of five. The house combines passive house engineering, geothermal systems, and solar power with warm, family-focused interiors. It features clean horizontal lines, expansive windows, and a material palette of wood, stone, and metal. The design includes facade shading, cross-ventilation, and stack-effect principles to maximize natural ventilation and minimize energy use. The construction took approximately 15 to 16 months and meets passive house standards with airtight construction, high-performance insulation, and heat-recovery ventilation. The interior includes a custom thermally sealed pizza oven replacing a traditional fireplace, a curved cedar ceiling, and durable furnishings suitable for a family home. A separate 2,550 sq ft gym building with space for basketball and other sports is also part of the project.
