Description | As part of the Indigenous Community Infrastructure Initiative, we are investing $7.9 million towards critical infrastructure required for commercial and residential development on-reserve. The CIB’s financing supports the Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg Reserve, ensuring future businesses and residences can connect to new electricity, water and broadband infrastructure.The project includes construction of approximately one kilometre of new road, the extension of water services tied into the existing water treatment system, the extension of existing fixed wireless broadband and the electrification of 55 new building lots.Benefits of CIB’s InvolvementBy tapping into CIB financing, Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg can access flexible and affordable financing to fill an infrastructure gap. With mining and forestry projects underway in the region, this investment will ensure Netmizaaggamig Nishnaabeg has the infrastructure necessary to attract more off-reserve Nation members to the community. |
