To reduce CO2 emissions and to improve the productivity of SME's in the Euregio, cross-border efficient practical innovation processes will be initiated and implemented which will be informed by new technologies such as Industry 4.0 / Smart Industry, automation and HTSM. In order to ensure resource-efficient production in the SME's, the common features of the Lean & Green approaches will be applied in the GEP network. The pre-existing network structures and supporters within the EUREGIO will be actively involved. 100 SME's have already indicated an interest on their part by submitting a LOI. To introduce innovation processes involved, cross-border information, workshops and trainings will be made available geared towards raising awareness among decision-makers in 1,000 manfacturing SME's. In 500 SME's, an innovative production process around resource- and energy efficient manufacturing processes will be initiated. 100 SME's will receive funding for this purpose. The target group of the GEP network shall be manufacturing German/Dutch SME's from the metal, plastics and wood processing industries. They are supposed to develop and implement process innovations together with solution providers. A cross-border German/Dutch network of solution providers will be established for this purpose. Mutual knowledge transfer within cross-corder clusters in particular will enable application-appropriate innovative solutions related to process- and product innovations in SME's, with Independent experts supporting the KME's. The efforts will give rise to the creation of added value in the region for all players involved. In concrete terms, this means that, rather than equipping the SME's with standard solutions available on the market, a needs-oriented approach will be taken. The improvement potential for the production processes in the individual SME's will be assessed with a view to specifically increasing productivity and resource efficiency (Lean & Green).
