These upgrades will provide emergency standby backup power for Municipal Wells #1, #4, #8, and Hillcrest Pump Station, ensuring the security of supply in times of power loss for the residents and businesses of New Tecumseth, including primary employers and health services such as Honda Manufacturing of Canada, Baxter Corporation, and Alliston Memorial Hospital (servicing a population of 24,800 for Alliston and Beeton). The scope of work includes the addition of new exterior pad mounted generators at each location and tie into existing Motor Control Centre’s (MCC’s) for electrical connections. To accommodate the needed equipment and meet Electrical Safety Code requirements, a complete building expansion with footings and foundations will be required at Well #1. The result of these upgrades will increase emergency firm local capacity from 7,839m3 to 11,452m3 during power outages.
