New Energy Auction – LEN A-3, 2021

Holding auctions for the purchase of electricity, especially those for new generation projects, are the basis for the expansion of the Brazilian electrical system. In order to meet the demand from distribution agents of the National Interconnected System (SIN), two Auctions will be held to purchase Electric Energy from New Generation Projects in 2021. Auctions A-3/2021 and A-4/2021, which will be held sequentially, allow the participation of projects from hydroelectric, wind, solar photovoltaic and biomass sources. The selection criteria will be based on the lowest price of energy offered (in R$/MWh), observing the strategy of dividing demand between sources defined by the MME, as well as the relative supply of each source in the auctions. Public Consultation No. 004/2021 was carried out from 02/11/2021 to 03/29/2021, to collect subsidies and additional information to improve the notice proposal. Auction A-3/2021 was held on 7/8/2021. In total, 33 companies emerged as winners, with an average discount of 30.83%. Investments of around R$2.2 billion are estimated.
