Description
Description | Holding auctions for the purchase of electricity, especially those for new generation projects, are the basis for the expansion of the Brazilian electrical system. In order to meet the demand from distribution agents of the National Interconnected System (SIN), two Auctions were held to purchase Electric Energy from New Generation Projects in 2022. Auction A-4/2022 allowed the participation of projects from hydroelectric, wind, solar photovoltaic and biomass sources. The selection criterion was based on the lowest price of energy offered (in R$/MWh), observing the demand partition strategy between sources defined by the MME, as well as the relative supply of each source in the auctions. LEN A-4/2022, carried out on 05/27/2022, via an operational platform made available on the Internet, in partnership with the Electric Energy Trading Chamber – CCEE, ended with an average discount of 9.36% in the price of energy. Investment expectations are in the order of R$7.03 billion. Aimed at contracting energy from new projects using hydroelectric, wind, solar photovoltaic and biomass thermoelectric sources, with supply starting from January 2026, the auction contracted 237 average MW and had an average price of R$ 258.16/ MWh. 29 generation projects were contracted, 18 of which were water sources, 2 biomass plants, 4 wind plants and another 5 solar plants.
