Description | New Era Energy & Digital has entered into a land option purchase agreement for a 3,500-acre site in Lea County, New Mexico, to develop a vast data center campus. The project plans to include more than 2 GW of natural gas-fired generation capacity and 5 GW or more of nuclear power to energize the site. Engineering for the campus is expected to start within the next month, including site evaluation, master planning, and full site engineering. The first power generation, likely from new gas-fired units, is expected in 2028. The project aims to support a multi-gigawatt artificial intelligence hub and aligns with state economic and environmental priorities. |
