New Genoa Breakwater Project

The project involves constructing a new breakwater to protect the harbor of the Port of Genoa from strong sea waves and storms, ensuring smoother and safer operations.The breakwater will be built using large concrete caissons, some of which are already being placed. This project represents a major investment in the region's maritime infrastructure and is expected to bolster the port's capacity and resilience. The caisson measures 21.7 m in height, 40 m in length and 25 m in width, weighing 10,000 tonnes. These huge reinforced concrete caissons are as tall as buildings. They will be laid one next to the other upon the submerged base to give a shape to the breakwater.
