Description | The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities approved a deferral program and other measures to help residents with recent electric bill rate hikes. The program provides a $30 deferral on bills in July and August, saving $60 total, which must be repaid over the following six months with a $10 monthly increase from September through February. Additional measures include utility shut-off protection extended through September 30 and a $25 monthly credit for low- and moderate-income households from August through February. The Universal Service Fund is also expanded to increase monthly credits for electric and gas bills starting October 1. |
