Description | The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) approved updates to grid modernization rules to reduce delays in the distribution grid interconnection process. The updates include more frequent hosting capacity map updates, a dispute resolution process, a preapplication and verification process for early project feasibility and cost indication, and a requirement for utilities to have a web portal for a consistent interconnection application process across service territories. These changes aim to enable more distributed energy resources (DER), especially solar and storage, to connect to New Jersey's distribution grid, helping to reduce energy costs and improve grid reliability. |
