However, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities ended the agreement with grid operator PJM to create this infrastructure due to policy changes and attacks on the offshore wind industry by the Trump administration. Ratepayers will have to reimburse companies for unfinished construction, with a price tag estimated between $400 million and $500 million. The projects are canceled, and the BPU argues this decision saves money compared to completing the projects, which could have cost up to $1.2 billion. |
