Description
Description | The Global Project entitled “Project for phases 1 & 2 of the New Line Provence Côte d’Azur” will contribute to easing congestion in the three key railway hubs along the Marseille-Ventimiglia Mediterranean Corridor: Marseille, Toulon and Nice. It aims to increase rail services, reduce the duration of the journey and offer a more reliable service by boosting reliability and regularity, support the development of regional freight transport and serve more areas with new multimodal passengers hubs. The target of the Global Project is to increase the number of annual train journeys by 7.5 million, leading to a positive socio-economic net present value of €1,568m. The project concerns the detailed studies on two multimodal passengers hubs of the Global Project, namely for Nice and Marseille. The Nice Airport multimodal hub should be in service by 2028. It shall enable interconnection between high-speed railway lines, regional lines, the airport, the future bus station, the tramway and motorway accesses. The Marseille-Saint André multimodal should be in service by 2029. Located between Marseille Airport and Marseille Saint-Charles Station, it shall enable access to national and European transport lines, while developing local urban services. |
