Description

The project involves mechanization of Berth No. 12 for providing equipments for handling Bulk Cargo at New Mangalore Port. The proposed berth length is 325m, having a depth of 15.1mts, which can accommodate vessels from 80,000 to 100,000 DWT size with LOA up to 240 mts with backup area of 25.9 ha. This is a brownfield project launched under a Design - Build - Finance - Operate and Transfer basis. Chettinad Mangalore Coal Terminal Pvt Ltd. is the project company established by the sponsor (Chettinad Group) to carry out the project. On March 18th, 2016 a 30-year concession was signed between the port authorities and the concessionaire. The concession was awarded following an international competitive bidding process, in which the criteria was the highest revenue share with the government. Construction is estimated to take 2 years beginning from the financial close date - 17 September 2016.
