New Oil Pipeline to the Pacific Coast

A new oil pipeline project to the Pacific Coast is committed as part of a wider expansion of Alberta's oil and gas production. The project aims to reduce Canada's economic dependence on the United States and to enable Canadian oil to reach Asian markets, displacing production from anti-Western regimes. The project includes provisions for Indigenous communities to benefit, including through co-ownership, and involves early, consistent, and meaningful consultation with Indigenous Peoples. The emissions cap on oil and gas production is scrapped, and there is a commitment to tie expansion of oil production to carbon capture and strengthen industrial carbon pricing.
