Description

The project involves the development, construction and operation of New Owendo International Port, located 27km south of Libreville, the capital of Gabon under a 30-year concession agreement with the government. The port will add 4 million tonnes of capacity and handle container traffic, general bulk and liquid cargo. The port developer Gabon Special Economic Zone Ports (GSEZ Ports) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Gabon Special Economic Zone, which in turn is owned by Olam International (40.5%), state-owned Gabonese Caisse des Depots et Consignations (CDC with 38.5%) and Africa Finance Corporation (21%). The project cost is EUR 305 million ($340 million). Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF) led the financing and provided EUR 40 million ($44.59 million) and African Development Bank provided EUR 40 million ($44.59 million) as well. 75% of the project capital will be covered by shareholder equity.
