Description

Description

The NPOEUAS project aims to engage and motivate at least 1800 European pre-service and in-service teachers in order to increase their ability to teach about the EU in secondary education. This will be achieved through 87 physical and online trainings in primarily Denmark but also in Greenland, Ireland, Belgium, Bulgaria, Spain, Serbia and the Netherlands. The project improves and builds on our previous two year’s experience as a Jean Monnet Teacher Training provider by expanding the scope of subjects, topics and countries for our trainings. Drawing on our 15 years of experience in the field, we will create an inclusive project that will develop 30 innovative learning products, which will help qualify and elevate our 87 inspirational trainings and be disseminated widely across Denmark and the EU (a further 5000 teachers will be reached digitally). Furthermore, the project is innovative by recognising that the EU is not just a topic for social studies but indeed also for other subjects such as languages and science. By developing and demonstrating innovative content, we wish to inspire more teachers to see EU angles as an opportunity and not a challenge to be overcome. The project will be implemented by a highly experienced teacher training team (7 previous Jean Monnet Projects and Teacher Training). The project will be assessed, followed and qualified by three expert advisory boards with five professors in EU studies, 12 teachers and teacher trainers, the Ministry of Education of Denmark and an advisory board consisting of three seasoned professionals from Ireland, the Netherlands and Serbia. Through the 30 content deliverables and 87 trainings across 8 countries, the project is relevant to the work programme since it addresses current EU studies, motivates teachers to learn new skills, demonstrates how the EU works and enables teachers to include many different EU aspects in their lessons. Also, we have a genuine ambition to stimulate a pan-european discussion.
