Description | The number of new projects announced in India plunged to the lowest level in more than two decades in the June quarter (Q1FY27), due to uncertainty caused by the West Asia war and investor wariness in most capital-intensive sectors except data centres and nuclear plants. Only 663 new projects were announced in the April-June quarter of the current fiscal year, compared with 1,275 projects in the corresponding period last year. The dip is seen across government and private sectors, with private sector projects down 45% and government projects down 48%. The total value of new projects announced was Rs 14.6 lakh crore, a 28% increase year-on-year, with nuclear power and data centres accounting for 80% of the total investment by value. |
