New Sagamore Bridge Replacement

MassDOT's contractor, AA Will Corporation, began foundation load testing work on May 1, 2026, using cranes, vibratory pile hammers, testing jacks and frames, and other heavy equipment to drive piles and drill shafts deep into the ground as part of preparation for the construction of the new Sagamore Bridge. The work will continue for the next two to three months at four sites around the Sagamore Bridge. Construction on one span of the new bridge is expected to begin in 2027, with the first span completed by 2033 and both spans by 2037. The project includes two massive bridges, bicycle lanes, and interchanges on either side of the Cape Cod Canal, using accelerated bridge construction techniques including prefabricated bridge arches floated down the canal.
