Description
Description | The Meghalaya government is set to begin a Rs 772.96 crore New Shillong Township Water Supply Scheme after revising its earlier estimate due to dam relocation, design changes, and additional infrastructure requirements. The project aims to supply potable water to New Shillong Township, Mawkhanu Knowledge City, and 32 surrounding villages with a design horizon up to 2057. The dam location was shifted upstream to avoid environmental risks, leading to increased dam span and number of radial gates, along with changes in associated infrastructure and additional earthwork. The project also includes compensation for local land use, a dedicated power supply system, and road restoration works. |
