Description

Description

The project will construct a new approximately 7,000 sq ft community hall with commercial kitchen facilities in the Tseshaht First Nation community. The Hall will improve cultural opportunities and provide an important community gathering space. The old hall, built in the 1960s, was demolished in 2019 after reaching the end of its useful life and becoming a potential hazard. There is a need to replace this facility as it was a cornerstone of the community, providing space for gathering, learning, and recreation. Without this space, there would be no viable indoor facilities for the growing community, as current facilities (Cultural Centre; Big room in Admin building) are over-capacity and unable to accommodate additional uses. The project will help meet the community’s needs allowing for much-needed programming for youth and elders. These assets are critical to the continued efforts of Tseshaht to achieve a high quality of life for their members and of all Nuu-chah-nulth peoples. The project works will include: - commercial kitchen; - breakout rooms and storage room; - HVAC/Electrical; - washrooms; - parking lot & landscaping; and, - related works.
