Description
Description | This project consists of preparing for the arrival of the electric buses by purchasing land for transit operation and future expansion and constructing the necessary facility for the maintenance, storage, and operation of electric buses. The scope of work includes the construction of a new transit facility comprising vehicle storage and maintenance areas to accommodate the charging, parking (storage), and ongoing maintenance for the new and existing fleet. The new Bus Maintenance Facility will be built adjacent to the existing Bus Facility and Offices and will include storage bays for 19 electric buses, 3 maintenance bays, with parts storage and mezzanines. The new building will be approximately 1,777 m² (19,122 ft°), one story height of approximately 9.05 m (29’-10), with mezzanines in the maintenance bays and in the storage bays. The mezzanine in the storage bay, adjacent to the maintenance bays, will be 200 m² (2,152 ft²), and will house storage, washrooms, showers, training room, lunchroom, and service rooms. The scope also includes the purchase of a 400kwh Solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) that will be installed at the new facility that will control energy demand for the electric bus charging and help reduce utility costs associated with vehicle charging as well as the purchase and install of 4, in-depot electric vehicle chargers. The aim of the project is to prepare for the arrival of the electric transit fleet and ensure that the transit system is equipped with a facility that will be suitable for maintenance, storage and charging of the electric fleet. |
