Description

Description

New York State has refused to revoke nearly 33,000 questionable commercial driver's licenses for immigrant truckers despite federal orders following an audit that uncovered significant problems with these licenses. As a result, New York will lose more than $73.5 million in federal funding. The issue involves non-domiciled commercial driver's licenses that remained valid long after immigrants were authorized to be in the country. New rules will prevent 97% of these foreign drivers from obtaining commercial licenses again.
