Description
Description | European business statistics are confronted with new and emerging (ad-hoc) user needs for data to support policies, which need to be answered swiftly and simultaneously. At the same time a persistent call to reduce the administrative burden on businesses exists which impedes additional reporting requirements on businesses. The current regular statistical data compilation practices often involve data delivery with a substantial delay, which reduces the relevance of the data for new policy areas that require swift political action. An alternative to regular data collection can be the so-called Micro Data Linking (MDL) approach, a statistical method for combining existing and available data about individual statistical units (enterprises, establishments or persons). MDL projects commonly use survey, register or administrative data to produce new statistical insights. |
