Newmarket watermain condition assessment program

The Town of Newmarket has aging water infrastructure and there is little information on the condition of its watermains. The lack of condition assessment information increases the risk of failure and the Town’s ability to deliver safe and reliable drinking water services. This project will develop a watermain condition assessment program and conduct assessments of critical infrastructure. The program will include utilizing innovative techniques to inspect and determine watermain condition and determine remediation methodology (replace, reline, cathodic protection) using industry best practices. The immediate needs for a watermain condition assessment program include reducing water main breaks and associated water damage, extending the operating life of distribution system watermains, extending budget investments by timely rehabilitation and replacement of aging watermains, decreasing water production and distribution costs by reducing non-revenue water loss and understanding the true condition of the Town’s buried assets.
