Description | Nel ASA has launched a next-generation pressurized alkaline electrolyser system designed to simplify renewable hydrogen production projects while significantly improving cost, efficiency, and scalability. The system has been developed over eight years and successfully tested at Nel's Herøya facility in Norway. It sets a new cost benchmark for large-scale electrolyser systems, enabling an estimated turnkey full-scope cost below USD 1,450 per kW based on a 25 MW plant, with further cost synergies for larger plants. The system delivers hydrogen at 30 bar pressure with 99.99% purity, fundamentally changing the cost structure of industrial-scale green hydrogen production. |
