Description | The project entails the construction, financing and operation of a coal-fired power plant in Nghi Son district, Thanh Hóa Province. The facility has an installed capacity of 1,200 MW (two units of 600 MW each). Nippon Export and Investment Insurance provided an insurance to the project company. The total project cost is being estimated at $1869 million. Sponsor is Marubeni Corp. Financing is being provided by JBIC (ensuring $560 million), Export-Import Bank of Korea (KEXIM), Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, MUFG Bank, Ltd., Mizuho Bank, Ltd., Shinsei Bank, Ltd., Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation, Ltd., DBS Bank, Ltd., and Malayan Banking Berhad. The electricity generated from this plant will be sold to Vietnam Electricity (EVN), a state-owned power utility in Vietnam, for 25 years.
