Description | The project entails the construction and operation of a 25 MW biomass plant in Mpumalanga province, South Africa. Ngodwana Energy is developing the project on behalf of the sponsors - Sappi (30%), Fusion Energy (30%), KC Africa (30%), Ngodwana Energy Employees Trust – 5% and Ngodwana Energy Community Trust – 5%. Ngodwana Energy is the SPV responsible for developing the project. The project was awarded under the fourth round of the South Africa's Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme. Eskom will offtake electricity under a PPA for 20 years. EPC will be conducted by EBL Engineering Services with construction taking around two years. Total project cost is currently undisclosed. Project financing was provided by Nedbank and ABSA Bank to the amount of $99.55 million.
