Description

Description

The Nguya FLNG vessel is part of the second phase of Eni's Congo floating liquefied natural gas project. It arrived on location 50 kilometers offshore the Congo-Brazzaville port city of Pointe-Noire. The project adds significant capacity to the Marine XII offshore development, including three production platforms, Saipem's Scarabeo 5 unit for gas treatment and compression, and the Nguya FLNG vessel for liquefaction and export. The unit can process up to 2.4 million tonnes per annum of LNG and is equipped with four 45,000 cubic metre LNG tanks using advanced liquefaction technology to reduce carbon intensity. It enables development of gas resources from the Nene and Litchendjili fields and ensures flexible management of volumes between the Nguya FLNG and the Tango FLNG, which has been operational since late 2023 with a processing capacity of 600,000 tpa. Together, the two units have a combined liquefaction capacity of 3 million tpa, equivalent to 4.5 billion cubic metres per annum. The Nguya vessel incorporates zero-flaring solutions and is designed to handle gas with varying compositions, key for future field developments. Scarabeo 5 acts as a floating production unit for gas separation and compression before feeding the FLNG facility. The phase two came on stream 35 months after construction of Nguya FLNG began.
