Description

Description

“Heart of Nonghyup Bank” established with our technologyThe NH Nonghyup IT center with the land area of 27,900 square meters, the size of three football fields, is located in Poil-dong, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do. The two towers of ten floors above ground and two basement levels consist of a data center and a development center. The new IT center serves as a research institute which develops and operates a variety of computer programs and a home to all data that Nonghyup Bank deals with.Hyundai E&C took the 300-billion-won deal to build the Nonghyup IT center in February 2014 after the stiff competition among the bidders aiming to win the mega-sized data center project as part of a strategy to enter the IT market at home and abroad. As a result, our achievement is the recognition of our technological expertise and knowhow amassed from six data center projects including the construction of Mokdong IDC in 2006.However, it was too early to be complacent over the achievement. We faced several problems to finish the construction within a short period of 24 months, organize manpower and select an inspection team. Despite the difficulties, we successfully completed the construction of the IT center through fast-track construction by advancing the construction period by 140 days, leading to gaining great trust from the client.Looking around the Nonghyup IT centerThe Nonghyup IT center was under tight security as an outpost which processes big data of Korea’s agricultural bank company. The IT center was designed to offer the around the-clock infrared light detection and the biological identifications including fingerprints. Take the seismic isolation level. Columns prop up the buildings, and dampers were installed in the columns to absorb the energy of vibration during a shake. Under an earthquake, the seismic dampers sway from side to side up to 60 centimeters to absorb the vibration of the ground. They can be resistant to earthquakes up to an 8.0 on the Richter Scale, equivalent to the 2008 Sichuan earthquake which killed about 70,000 people.Even in case of a blackout that can affect the entire city, the Nonghyup IT center is awake all year around. To tackle possible problems with generators, it has a dual system in which electricity can be supplied by two substations. The Nonghyup IT center also adopted eco-friendly systems. Although the equipment in the computer room radiates heat all the time, the temperature inside the room should remain between 16 and 24 degrees Celsius. Unlike general data centers using large-sized air conditioners, the new IT center cools down the computer servers in an environmental friendly manner by cold outside air. The path for outside air passing through the computer room is expected to reduce the consumption of energy during winter by 13 percent.Hyundai E&C is planning to focus on wining more orders to build data centers at home and abroad because IT and financial companies set out to establish data centers to react to the advent of big data and a growing number of security accidents.
