Description
Description | The development objective of the Caribbean Coast Food Security Project for Nicaragua is to enhance food and nutritional security in selected communities of the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. The project comprises of three components. The first component, innovation development plans for strengthening natural and non-natural resource-based productive and marketing capacity will enhance the productive and marketing capacities of farmers and rural enterprises by supporting the participatory design of innovation development plans (IDPs), and financing their implementation. The second component, strengthening service provision for sustainable production, food security, and nutrition will strengthen sectoral capacities for the provision of services in support to IDP beneficiaries in two broad areas: (i) technology generation and validation and transfer; and (ii) nutritional education and communication and nutrition-sensitive agriculture. The third component, project management, monitoring and evaluation will finance incremental and operating costs, equipment, and goods for the Ministry of Family, Communal, Cooperative, and Associative Economy (MEFCCA), including a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation (M and E) system. |
