Description

Description

The Nicaragua COVID-19 Education Sector Response Project seeks to mitigate the negative impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on students and school communities. The Project will include three components. Component 1 seeks to reduce learning gaps in public preschool and secondary education for vulnerable groups, through two subcomponents: (1.1) reducing learning gaps for students in schools with limited access to connectivity through the provision of student and teacher workbooks based on a prioritized curriculum; and (1.2) reducing learning gaps through digital tools and platforms in primary schools. Component 2 seeks to diminish the impacts of COVID-19 on the mental health and well-being of the education community by providing socioemotional support to school staff, families and students in targeted schools through two subcomponents: (2.1) developing a socioemotional support strategy and learning materials for school staff; and (2.2) providing socioemotional support for families and students in selected schools. Component 3 will support the management of the project by: (i) strengthening MINED’s capacity to comply with the Bank's procedures for fiduciary management, social and environmental standards, and project implementation; and (ii) financing technical assistance for project implementation.
