Description | The cities of Fishers and Noblesville and Hamilton County are planning to convert an abandoned rail corridor into a recreational trail. A 9-mile section of right-of-way that once served the Nickel Plate Railroad, and more recently the Norfolk Southern Railroad, will become a new segment of the 44-mile Nickel Plate Trail. BBJ and Ex2 Partners are master planning the 4.5-mile trail section being done by Fishers. BFS Engineering and A&S Engineering are designing the trail segment between 106th Street and 126th Street in Fishers, which will include either a tunnel or bridge to carry the trail under or over 116th Street. Fishers has budgeted $7 million to $9 million for the first, 2-mile long section. |
