NICO FINDS A TREASURE is a live action film for children that tells the story of 12-year-old Nico, who is sent to spend the summer on a remote Greek island to overcome his video game addition. There, he struggles to fit in, but discovers that there is more to be gained through friendship in the real world and diving in the deep blue sea. The film is developed by three companies in Greece, the Netherlands and Germany, bringing together an exceptionally experienced and diverse team in the production of creative feature films for children and international co-productions. It aims to reach a target audience of children 7-12, their parents and caregivers. It capitalizes on themes relevant to the lives of young people today, but also on their magical connection with the sea. A total of 38 persons directly contribute to the development of the project, including company personnel and freelancers from four European countries. This team of European film professionals work together to create a script in English, that will be translated into Greek, German and Dutch as well as a production funding strategy that will secure financing in Europe, while exploring the possibilities of coproduction with Canada. The producers also seek to distribute the film in additional territories through pitching in at least two markets specializing in kid's film content. The partners also collaborate to create an ambitious and dynamic marketing and outreach strategy, which will reach a young, diverse and wide international audience.
