Nidera is a global trader of agricultural commodities (including oilseeds, grains and biofuels) and a producer of seeds and crop protection products with operations in 18 major exporting and importing countries; distribution to over 60 countries. Nidera is seeking to launch the second phase of an expansion plan (started in 2009) to continue to grow its grain/oilseeds origination and infrastructure platform in Latin America (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay), Eastern Europe (Russia, Kazakhstan, and Romania) and North America (U.S.) and thus seeking a capital increase to fund its plans.COFCO Corporation (“COFCO”), through its subsidiary, has entered into an agreement with Nidera to subscribe primary shares to support the above expansion plan and also acquire secondary shares from existing shareholders, which would result in COFCO getting 51% shareholding in Nidera. IFC is invited to co-invest with COFCO, HOPU Fund and other investors into Nidera.
